THE JUSTIN POITRAS CROSSFIT SCHOLARSHIP
We're looking for youth ages 15-19 who live in the Boston areas of South Boston, Dorchester, Roxbury, and other surrounding areas to participate in this amazing opportunity. No prior CrossFit experience is required. All scholarship recipients must:
1. Be Motivated About this Life-Changing and Awesome Experience
Our scholarships provide you with unlimited access to a CrossFit facility located near your high school or community.
Timeline: All scholarships are granted on a semester basis to include summer session.
2. Show Up on Time and Be Ready to Workout
Your CrossFit coaches and mentors will be counting on you to be on time and ready to attend class. There are several class times you can attend - weekday classes start from 5:30 AM to 7:30 PM and classes from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM on the weekends. Timeline: It's best to show up 10-15 minutes early to class. NOTE: There are restrooms available to change into workout clothes and lockers for your belongings.
3. Be Prepared to Learn from the Best
Regardless of what your fitness level is all of our classes and workouts will be tailored to meet your needs. Whether you are a varsity athlete or have not worked out in a while, we will help you build your physical fitness capabilities, and you will feel strong and confident after every workout.
Note: Water fountains are available but we recommend you bring a water bottle with you.
4. Don't Be Afraid to Ask Questions
The CrossFit community you are going to be a part of is a very large but friendly group of people. Everyone knows everyone and they will be well aware of who you are when you start attending classes. Don't be afraid to reach out to anyone within the facility with any questions or concerns you may have. Everyone will be welcoming and more than happy to answer any questions you may have and help you through workouts.
Note: All scholarships recipients will attend introductory classes to learn the CrossFit movements and proper techniques. And you will continue to learn new skills and perfect your form as you attend classes.
5. Be Committed to Developing a Healthy Lifestyle
The CrossFit training and healthy lifestyle behaviors you will learn are things that many adults can not afford to receive. The community you are becoming a part of is filled with excellent athletes, coaches, and mentors. Therefore, we want you to be committed, inspired, and do your best.
Note: Classes are always an hour long with additional time for training outside of class. As you progress, you are more than welcome to reach out to your mentors and coaches to practice things you learn in class.
6. Make the Best of It
We want you to have fun. We want you to learn the CrossFit culture, community, and sport. We want you to be healthy, strong, and happy about living a more physically fit and active lifestyle. So, we encourage you to make the best of your experience and create positive life-long connections.
Timeline: After each semester (depending on funds of the foundation) we will offer scholarships to continue your progress during future semesters.
